The trend of artists being hit by objects onstage continued as Drake became the latest victim during the kickoff of his It’s All a Blur Tour with 21 Savage. On Wednesday night at Chicago’s United Center, the rapper was struck in the arm by a cell phone thrown from the audience.
A TikTok video captured the moment when Drake, while performing Ginuwine’s “So Anxious,” was hit by the phone. He briefly looked at his hand, showing no signs of injury, before seamlessly continuing the performance like a seasoned professional.
This incident adds to the growing list of artists facing interruptions during their shows due to objects being launched from the crowd. Bebe Rexha, Lil Nas X, and Kelsea Ballerini have all recently experienced similar disruptions, including a phone, a sex toy, and a bracelet being thrown, respectively.
The issue extends beyond objects as well. Ava Max encountered a fan who rushed the stage and slapped her, while during P!nk’s performance at BST Hyde Park in London, a concertgoer threw their mother’s ashes onto the stage.
The concerning trend prompted Adele to address it during one of her Las Vegas residency shows. In a clip shared on social media, she expressed her frustration with the lack of show etiquette and dared anyone to throw something at her while holding a t-shirt gun.
Despite the incident, Drake remained unfazed, swiftly moving on with his performance. While artists continue to face these disruptions, they maintain their professionalism and resilience in the face of unexpected challenges.
