Billie Eilish took to social media to announce that she will be dropping a song for the upcoming “Barbie” film soundtrack, featuring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling. The song, titled “What Was I Made For?,” is set to release on July 13th. Eilish expressed her excitement and passion for the project, emphasizing the significance of the song created specifically for the iconic Barbie character. She also hinted at the emotional impact of both the movie and her contribution.

The soundtrack, titled “Barbie the Album,” is scheduled to release on July 21st, consisting of 17 tracks. The tracklist was unveiled last month, showcasing a star-studded lineup of artists who have crafted Barbie-themed songs for the film. Alongside Eilish, performers such as Lizzo, Dua Lipa, Nicki Minaj & Ice Spice, Karol G, Charli XCX, and more will contribute to the album. Ryan Gosling will also join the roster with an original song performed in character as Ken.

The Eilish track, “What Was I Made For?,” is placed sixth on the tracklist, following Karol G’s “Watati (feat. Aldo Ranks)” and preceding Tame Impala’s “Journey To The Real World.” This positioning suggests that Eilish’s song will provide a significant narrative element within the album, contributing to the overarching Barbie theme and storyline.
